As you may recall we recently celebrated Return to Music Week with $5 lessons all week long (10/14-10/18) at Musical Surprise. Basically, we offered a music lesson to anyone interested here in the studio with one of our excellent Music Instructors. What you may not have realized, is that our wonderful Music Instructors who participated offering their time & talent, were donating what they earned for these special lessons to Musicians On Call, an amazing charity that sends musicians to perform at hospitals around the country!
Well, Return to Music Week with its $5 lessons was a success. We saw 17 adults in our studio to take the $5 lessons and raised money for a great cause. We had so much fun that we decided to kick in a little extra and donate $100 to this awesome organization! In return, we recently received this Thank You note, which we would like to share with all of you, as many of you helped made our generosity possible.
Dear Musical Surprise,
Thanks to your support this year, volunteers have walked the halls of even more healthcare facilties. We’re excited to announce that we’ve reached a new milestone – MOC has brought live and recorded music to more than 400,000 patients, staff, and family!
Our expansion includes a new Virtual Bedside Performance Program with Queens, NY-based Selfhelp Community Services, Inc. Volunteer musicians like Morley (pictured here) can play for homebound seniors using a Google+ Hangout video conference from any place in the world — in this case, she conducted our inaugural program right from my office.
In order to continue our expansion, we have many great fundraising events queued up for the rest of the year. We hope you’ll support our expansion efforts by attending any of the events listed below, or by creating your own fundraiser.
We’re looking forward to delivering the healing power of music to even more patients this year!
Kindest Regards,
Leslie Morrison Faerstein Ed. D., LCSW
