Miss Georgia taught music at multiple schools in Virginia before returning to Arizona and joining Musical Surprise in 2015. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Sacred Music (piano proficiency) and her Master of Science in Music Education (voice proficiency) from Pensacola Christian College. Georgia grew up in a military family and occasionally likes to use the British accent she picked up while living in England for four years, particularly for Mary Poppins’ songs.
During lessons, she likes to help students develop the skills necessary to master their instrument, whether it’s their piano or their voice. Note reading becomes easier when music theory concepts are understood. Challenging vocal passages are less daunting if the voice has been exercised. Students don’t just “learn songs.” They learn the skills they need to learn any song they want. Using videos, games, personal challenges, and incentives also provides each student with a little fun along the musical journey!
