Lessons & Classes

Thanks for your interest in lessons & classes at Musical Surprise. We welcome students of all ages, and teach all styles and levels of music! We offer both private and group lessons in our studio and offer lessons 6 days a week.

Private Lessons

Private Lesson tuition is billed monthly at $120/month for a weekly 30-minute lesson, and any additional enrollments are are discounted to only $95/month. 60-minute weekly lessons are also available for $215/month. Sign-up is easy, just a couple of forms including EZ pay to setup your tuition payments on the card of your choice and then finding a time on calendar that works for you. We have 30 amazing teachers and provide lessons Monday-Saturday. There is a one-time registration fee of $25 to join the studio and then you are set to go- we can get you started as early as tomorrow!

• Piano/Keyboard

  Lessons are available for ages 3 & up
  Beginner – Intermediate – Advanced

  Piano lessons are the perfect start to your music education. Lessons may include traditional methods utilizing note reading, as well as chord approach and ear training for those interested. For those who learn/play by ear non-traditional teaching is also available. Busy Adults can learn through chord approach or EZ play methods. Just want to play church hymns or songs from the radio? Our experienced teachers can teach all styles and level! Lessons available for ages and 3 to 100 for beginner, intermediate and advanced pianists!

• Voice/Singing

  Lessons are available for ages 6 & up
  Beginner – Intermediate – Advanced

  If you’ve always wanted to learn how to sing or even if you just want to sharpen up your skills before your next audition- check out our voice lessons. All styles welcome, choose your music or try a variety. Learn correct breathing techniques, articulation and even sight-reading while building your repertoire. Performance opportunities available for those interested, lessons available for ages 6 to 100! • Acoustic/Electric Guitar

  Lessons are available for ages 6 & up
  Beginner – Intermediate – Advanced

  Is this the year you learn to play the guitar? We will help you learn how to tune your guitar, read a chord chart, music notation and/or TAB, and a variety of strumming techniques. Learn to play melody and chord progressions too. Special adaptive methods are available for young players with small hands. Our teachers are experts in a variety of styles and approaches and cater the lessons to each individual student. Students ages 6 to 100 are welcome, lessons available for beginner, intermediate and advanced players.

• Violin/Fiddle

  Lessons are available for ages 5 & up
  Beginner – Intermediate – Advanced
  

  Private violin lessons are available for students of all ages. Students will learn instrument basics, how to care for and maintain their instrument, technique, bow control, music reading, theory, solos and everything you need to become a successful Violinist. Lessons are customized to each student’s ability and interest. Students ages 5 to 100 are welcome, lessons available for beginner, intermediate and advanced violinists!

• Electric Bass

  Lessons are available for ages 5 & up
  Beginner – Intermediate – Advanced

  Private Lessons are available for Beginner to Intermediate skills to learn the basic scales and melody lines. Students ages 5 to 100 will learn songs in many genres and basic techniques for Rock, Jazz and Country, along with general music theory. We welcome beginner and intermediate bassists to check out lessons!

• Saxophone

  Lessons are available for ages 7 & up
  Beginner – Intermediate – Advanced

  Lessons will cover all aspects of learning to play the saxophone – technique, breath control, music reading/theory, solos- everything you need to become a successful saxophone player or improve your current skills. Lessons are customized to each student’s ability and interest. We welcome students ages 7 to 100, lessons available for beginner, intermediate and advanced players.

• Clarinet

  Lessons are available for ages 6 & up
  Beginner – Intermediate – Advanced

  Private lessons will have students focus on fundamentals of note reading, tone production, embouchure strength, hand position, and posture. As students advance, they incorporate stylistic dynamics and articulations. Clarinet lessons can be geared to help students excel in band or orchestra. Lessons are customized to each student’s ability and interest in a fun learning environment. We welcome beginner, intermediate and advanced students ages 6 to 100!

• Drums

  Lessons are available for ages 6 & up
  Beginner – Intermediate – Advanced

  Drummers from 6-100 will be given the tools for rhythmic exploration. Learn to play the drum set, stick control, technique, basic hand drums, and practice ethics. Intermediate and advanced players are also welcome. Our experienced drum instructors have a lot to offer. Styles include Rock, Blues, Jazz, Latin, Afro-Cuban, Metal, Country, Reggae and more. • Trumpet

  Lessons are available for ages 6 & up
  Beginner – Intermediate – Advanced

  Lessons will cover all aspects of trumpet playing – technique, breath control, music reading/theory, solos, everything you need to become a successful trumpet player or improve your current skills. Lessons are available for beginner, intermediate and advanced students ages 6 to 100!

• Harmonica

  Lessons are available for ages 6 & up
  Beginner

  Lessons cover harmonica types and playing styles including standard, country and blues.
  We can also teach students how to read music and/or tablature according to student preference.
  Lessons are customized to include songs according to student preferences. All students ages 6 to 100 welcome!

• Flute

  Lessons are available for ages 7 & up
  Beginner – Intermediate – Advanced

• Cello

  Lessons are available for ages 8 & up
  Beginner – Intermediate – Advanced

  Lessons cover all aspects of learning to play the Cello – technique, bow control, music reading/theory, solos, everything you need to become a successful Cello player or improve your current skills. Lessons are customized to each student’s ability and interest. Beginning, intermediate and advanced students welcome ages 8 to 100!

• Banjo

  Lessons are available for ages 6 & up
  Beginner

  Lessons include basic care, maintenance and tuning of instrument, as well as reading music and/or tablature according to student preference.
  Students will receive exercises to develop basic playing skills, technique for chording and accompaniment, and explore available options for genres and styles(bluegrass, folk, etc). Students will also learn to play solos in various genres and styles (Scruggs, frailing, flatpicking). Our teacher will tailor styles and songs according to student preferences. Beginner and intermediate students welcome from ages 6 to 100!

• Mandolin

  Lessons are available for ages 7 & up
  Beginner

  Lessons include how to care, maintain and tune your instrument as well as how to read notation and/or tablature, depending on student preference. Students will also learn exercises to develop basic playing skills, technique for chording and accompaniment, and playing solos in various genres such as bluegrass, folk and classical music. All lessons are individualized for each student’s preferences! All students welcome ages 7 to 100!

• Ukulele

  Lessons are available for ages 5 & up
  Beginner – Intermediate – Advanced

  Ukulele is one of the most fun instruments to play! Learn to play chords, melodies, and scales. We can teach songs of many genres and work with all types of ukuleles. We welcome beginner, intermediate and advanced students ages 5 to 100!

Group Classes

We also offer group classes for beginners in piano, guitar, violin and preschool music. Classes are an excellent option for beginners to get a taste of what lessons are like in a social environment. These classes run in 8-week terms and start in January, March, June, August and October. Tuition is due at time of enrollment and is $160 for the 8-week class and additional enrollments are discounted to $120 for the 8-weeks. Space is limited in our classes, we set the minimum at 3 and max at 6 for most classes.

• Guitar Class

  Available for ages 6-10 & 11-14

  Classes are designed to create a strong foundation for guitar players, this class introduces all the basics to playing guitar including tuning, how to read chord charts, notation and TAB. This class is the perfect start for the beginning player! Special methods utilized for young students with small hands.

• Piano Class

  Available for ages 6-10 & 11-14

  This fun class is the perfect start for your pianist to learn basic piano concepts, such as keyboard geography as well as rhythm, technique and note reading. Classes are limited in size to ensure that each student understands each lesson and weekly assignments are given for practice at home.

• String Class

  
  Available for ages 6 & up

  This class is for beginners and will introduce the basic theory, technique and musicianship through fun and comprehensive group lessons. We have the keys to your success and look forward to building new musicians! Music stands and violin rentals are available for an additional fee.

• Mini Mozarts

  
  Available for ages 4-6

  These fun small group music classes for 4-6 year olds incorporate early piano/keyboard skills, through exploring the keyboard, singing and movement. Join us as we follow Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse on their musical journey. This is the perfect start for your little star!

• Music Explorers

  
  Available for ages 3-5

  Your little one will explore music in this fun group utilizing various percussion instruments, moving to music, singing, and other techniques to help your young child grow musically and explore the diversity of music. Come Explore with us!
